Garden landscaping from Staff4dshire Properties

Whether you want to make better use of a tired back garden or plan a full transformation, Staff4dshire Properties can take the work on as a single project. We look at the garden with you, talk through how you want to use the space, and give you a written quote for the work.

As part of the Staff4dshire Group, we can bring in our own groundworks team and our own plant, so you are not left coordinating separate firms for the digging, the drainage and the finished surfaces.

Hard landscaping: patios, paths and garden walls

Hard landscaping is the built structure of a garden: the patio you sit out on, the paths that link it together, the walls and raised beds that shape the space, and the steps between levels. Getting the base right matters as much as the finish, so we prepare a proper sub-base and lay surfaces with falls so that water runs away from the house.

We can help you weigh up materials such as natural stone, porcelain, block paving, gravel and timber sleepers, and how each suits the way you want to use the garden.

Groundwork, drainage and plant from within the group

Most garden projects start below ground. The digging out, levelling, sub-bases and drainage behind our landscaping work are carried out by the group's own groundworks company, Staff4dshire Groundworks & Utilities.

Where a job needs a micro digger, a dumper or a plate compactor, it comes from our own Staff4dshire Plant Hire fleet, which keeps the work in one set of hands from the first dig to the final clear-up.

Landscaping and back gardens: common questions

Who does the groundwork and drainage for a landscaping project?

Our own groundworks company, Staff4dshire Groundworks & Utilities, carries out the digging out, sub-bases and drainage, so the ground preparation is handled within the group.

Do I need to hire a digger or other plant myself?

No. Where a job needs a digger, dumper or compactor, we use plant from our own company, Staff4dshire Plant Hire.

How much does a new patio or garden cost?

It depends on the size of the area, the materials you choose, access and the ground conditions. We look at the garden first and then give you a written quote.

Do I need planning permission for a patio, path or garden wall?

Many back-garden patios and paths do not, but some work can, such as higher walls, raised areas or work at a listed building or in a conservation area. We flag anything that should be checked with the council before work starts.

Who do I speak to about a back-garden project?

Nick Carter looks after back-garden projects. Call the office on 01889 256069 or email tom@staff4dshiregroup.com and we will put you in touch.

Which areas do you cover?

We are based in Rugeley and work across Staffordshire and the West Midlands.
