Working in Lichfield
Lichfield is a cathedral city with a large conservation area of Georgian and older brick buildings around the Close, Bore Street and Dam Street. Around that core are 20th-century estates such as Boley Park, Leomansley and Curborough, and big new developments at Streethay and on the southern edge of the city.
Older buildings in Lichfield can have uneven ground, cellar lights and delicate brickwork; we use boards, sole plates and careful ties so the scaffold protects the building as well as the people working on it. Lichfield's narrow historic streets and busy city centre mean scaffold layout, pedestrian protection and delivery times need planning, while the big new estates are far simpler to access.
For Lichfield (WS13 and WS14), planning applications are handled by Lichfield District Council, and highways matters such as scaffold licences, skips on the road and dropped kerbs by Staffordshire County Council. Our yard at Kimberley Business Park is about nine miles down the A51 from our Rugeley yard.
How we work
Clear communication matters: you will know when the scaffold is going up, who to call if it needs altering and when it will come down. Our own fleet means that if a programme changes, we can usually move with it.
Before erecting anything we look at the ground, the building, any overhead cables and how the scaffold will be used, then agree the layout, number of lifts and loading requirements with you. Scaffolds are inspected and handed over in writing, and we come back to adapt them as the job progresses.
