Working in Lichfield
Lichfield is a cathedral city with a large conservation area of Georgian and older brick buildings around the Close, Bore Street and Dam Street. Around that core are 20th-century estates such as Boley Park, Leomansley and Curborough, and big new developments at Streethay and on the southern edge of the city.
Older properties in Lichfield often have shared or combined drains that are poorly recorded, so surveying before digging saves time and disputes.
For Lichfield (WS13 and WS14), planning applications are handled by Lichfield District Council, and highways matters such as scaffold licences, skips on the road and dropped kerbs by Staffordshire County Council. Our yard at Kimberley Business Park is about nine miles down the A51 from our Rugeley yard.
How we work
New drainage is laid to proper falls on a granular bed, with accessible chambers at changes of direction and connections that building control and the sewerage undertaker will accept. Sewer connections in this area are usually made to Severn Trent's network, and we handle the application.
Surface water is the other half of drainage. On drives, patios and yards we use ACO channels, gullies and soakaways sized for the area, so rainwater goes where it should and not against your house.
