Working in Telford
Telford was developed as a new town from the 1960s, joining older settlements such as Wellington, Oakengates, Madeley and Dawley, so it combines Victorian terraces and cottages with large modern estates and business parks. The Ironbridge Gorge World Heritage Site sits on its southern edge.
In Telford a lot of our groundwork is for extensions, garages and new homes on former garden or garage-block land, where access for plant and spoil removal needs planning. Telford's history of mining and industry means ground investigations are especially worthwhile, and the Ironbridge Gorge has well-known slope stability issues.
In Telford (TF1 to TF7), Telford & Wrekin Council handles both planning applications and highways matters such as scaffold licences, skips on the road and dropped kerbs. Our yard at Kimberley Business Park is about thirty miles west via the M6 and M54.
How we work
We start with the drawings, the site investigation (if there is one) and a walk round the site to look at access, levels, spoil volumes and existing services. That lets us plan the dig, the muck away and the concrete pours in the right order and give you a clear programme.
Because the group also runs roofing, scaffolding and building companies, we understand how groundworks feed into the rest of a build. Getting levels, drainage runs and service ducts right first time saves real money later.
