Working in Walsall
Walsall has a large stock of Victorian and Edwardian terraces close to the centre, inter-war and post-war semis across Bloxwich, Aldridge, Pelsall and Rushall, and plenty of commercial and industrial premises near the M6.
In Walsall a new drive often means a dropped kerb, which has to be approved by Walsall Council before vehicles cross the footway.
In Walsall (WS1 to WS9), Walsall Council handles both planning applications and highways matters such as scaffold licences, skips on the road and dropped kerbs. Our yard at Kimberley Business Park is around seventeen miles south via the A461.
How we work
We agree levels against the house damp-proof course, existing paths and the pavement before any work starts, and we leave the site swept and clean with the old surface removed.
We dig out to the right depth for vehicle loads, lay and compact a Type 1 sub-base in layers, then fix kerbs or edging before laying the surface. Cutting corners at this stage is why so many drives sink and rut.
